The Bundy Modern was designed and built in 1962 by Harlow Carpenter as an art gallery and sculpture park. Carpenter (Harvard 1954, Harvard Graduate School of Design 1956) was directly influenced by Walter Gropius, Josep Lluìs Sert, and Marcel Breuer, whose ideas inspired the building’s structured international style.

Modernist buildings frequently go through periods of misunderstanding or neglect. Fortunately the Bundy Modern is stewarded by current owners Wendell and June Anderson, who have succeeded in bringing the building and grounds back to life, making it an arts destination in the Mad River Valley.
